"You arise from the ashes that were once your body, to be greeted by the crimson hue of the sky..."
Hello! I am a somewhat experienced GM looking for players for a one-shot (with the potential to turn into a full campaign if the group clicks). It is based on my own universe and magic system, running on the Fate Core ruleset.
This game is highly narrative-driven in a meta-sense. You will play as literal "Drafts" traveling through the Wastelands—an ever-shifting dimension where unfinished stories and concepts are sent after being discarded by God.
In the Wastelands, you can expect to find grand mechanical structures reminiscent of games like Rain World, while at the same time stumbling across Edo-period villages or fields of vibrant blue grass.
Some comparative titles and themes to help you get a feel for the vibe are:
Fear & Hunger
• Dark Souls
• Ultrakill
• Jujutsu Kaisen
• Serial Experiments Lain
• Gnosticism
• Divine Machinery Aesthetics
You will start by choosing an Emanation (beings we commonly call Gods, though they are more like embodiments of concepts) from a list. You must choose solely based on their name, not what they represent. You will discover their true nature later.
You will write an unfinished story of up to 500 words based on the Emanation you chose. That story will be the essence of your character. Your Draft may be the main character of that story, someone tormented by its themes, a human, a non-human, whatever your imagination wants.
Each Draft has a "Pure Essence." If I had to draw a parallel, it functions similarly to a Cursed Technique in JJK. It is the innate, signature ability of your Draft. In-game it will work as a Stunt.
I heavily prioritize narrative and character development over combat. There will frequently be options to enter combat, but it won't be necessary most of the time. This will be a game focused on roleplay and sandbox exploration, featuring a main quest-giver and several secondary quests that the group may choose to ignore or partake in.
Note: Some of the themes included in the game may be sensitive. We will have a thorough safety and boundaries discussion before playing to ensure everyone is comfortable.
If all of this interests you, please send a message on here. We will use Discord to call and Owlbear if I decide to use maps but it will likely be a Theater of the Mind game.
