Tobiah Wade, the instructor at the local plumbing college, has just hit fifty. There's of course the birthday barbecue party, to which are invited all of Tobiah's friends, as well as the friends of his art student daughter - Miranda. Unfortunately, not many have attended. Perhaps it has something to do with the current state of the town - most people stay at home due to animal attacks around the town. Not that it helps - many people's homes were already broken into and rummaged through by the "animals". Nobody is able to identify what species is responsible, however. You are all young adults, trying to enjoy the party in spite of the tense atmosphere. But it's difficult with everyone, older people especially, acting so erratically. Maybe it's a good idea to find out what's plaguing the town and put an end to it.
