The world of Ramméno is breaking. The fabric is tearing, and the population is none the wiser. Nature is losing its grip, and is beginning to lose ground. But the City is disconnected to that.
Sýnnisifon, the Floating City, is miles off the ground. Unable to get down, and unable to get up to. This makes it a very safe place to live in, but very isolated. But why worry about it? If you’re protected, there’s no reason know.
But you? No, you’re inquisitive. Painfully so. You do want to know. You’ve been wanting to know. The city… it’s beautiful, but something about it. It floated for no reason. As far as you knew, the concept of magic or heroes was just fantasy. And then, as soon as you hit an epiphany about something, a rift opens beneath your feet.
Thrust into a maze, your world gets shifted upside down. It felt… psychedelic. The solid walls you had become used to contrasted with harsh, bubbly colors that darted around and had an almost theatrical appearance to it all as curtains befell a wooden platform and seats surrounded it. Stepping onto the stage, you felt something awaken within you. Be it a sort of magic, a newfound durability, or anything else.
After, you manage to exit the maze, but find yourself in the underside of Sýnnisifon, the earth you have never seen before now serving as your sky.
With discovering this underside, comes a new resolve. The rifts that are eating the world apart must be closed. With zero clues on how to do such a thing, however, you turn to your ears. The strumming of a shamisen, the thumps of a drum, the ringing of a gong, and the whistle of a flute. The sounds of life in a place you once thought was bereft of it. With them as your guiding tune, you set out...

Hello there, prospective players! Name’s Pancake, and this is my idea for my first foray into playing MCDM’s Draw Steel as both a Dungeon Master and in general. However, I’ve been telling stories for years now, both alone and with others.
I only play in a Play By Post format, as the post’s title says. In writing, when I DM, I usually reach Discord’s limit.
For those uninitiated, Draw Steel is another TTRPG, focused a little more on tactical fights and heroes and such. It focuses on positioning, planning, and ranges as its forefront. It uses 2d10s as its main dice, as opposed to DnD’s d20. Draw Steel’s own “universe” is set in a medieval world and I plan to stick to that, albeit with some adjustments. I will be sending the rulebook to those I select, but if you would prefer to have it explained by me, I will not say no! I don’t want to appear as unwilling to help.
When it comes to character creation, there is a dozen ways to approach the same character.
- When picking a race (referred in Draw Steel as Ancestry), each has one or two defining traits, and usually 3 Ancestry Points. You use these points to select certain abilities of the Ancestry you picked. These ranges from gaining the ability to fly, to more movement, and even give you new abilities! Two characters of the same Ancestry might be entirely different from each other because of this!
- (Side note, there is a specific trait found in the Hakaan Ancestry called Doomsight that I have banned for this campaign. If asked why, I shall respond.)
- When it comes to class, there are 9, each with 3 to 4 Subclasses, with the exception of two God-worship based classes, who pick two of a list of various deities to get their traits that way. I will not be explaining them all here, but, as you will see in the recruitment form, the type of class you usually play will be ask. This will serve to both know preferences and make sure the team I pick has a sort-of solid composition.
- And, while the explanations I have given mostly center around combat, fear not! There are several systems that are in place for roleplay, with or without mechanics!
- Speaking of not fearing, don’t fear a wasted turn! In DS, everything hits. There are several systems in play to self heal, so don’t worry about doing something risky and risk it not doing something.
Depending on how long people take to get used to it, the campaign might not start until a week or so after candidates get chosen. This gives enough time for people to interact, make sure everyone gets along, have boundaries set up, etc. It might be more, if there is a player who is a bad fit for me or the group in general.
I am looking for three more players, as an online friend is filling the first slot of a four person group. The overall vibe of the campaign won’t be overly serious and dark, but not exactly light either. Enough space for players to goof off, but sometimes tightened up to not ruin certain moments.
But, before I waste your time further, I will not take these type of players/characters:
- Murder Hobos
- “Lone Wolf” types that adamantly oppose working with the group.
- Any type of bigotry.
- No “it’s what my character would do”-ers. If what your character would do is completely self-centered, it’s no longer fun.
Now, personal boundaries I am setting:
- Please don’t pry into me. I have a healthy support system irl and I feel deeply uncomfortable sharing a bunch of vulnerability online. Plus, I really do like being very anonymous online, as a general presentation thing.
- And, while I do recognize my position as a “leader”, do not expect me to personally make sure to resolve all conflict. If you have qualms with a player, try to address them directly first before heading to me. I am bad at reading friction, so unless it is a very uncomfortable topic, like harassment, try to settle it amongst yourselves first, and use me as a second option, not the first one.
