Dungeons & Dragons 5e (2014)

Overview

Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (D&D 5E) burst onto the scene in 2014, taking a game that’d been around since the ‘70s and giving it new life. After a huge public playtest called "D&D Next," the creators wanted to smooth over old division and give everyone — whether you’re an old-school fan or totally new — a game that feels both classic and modern. D&D quickly stopped being just a niche hobby and it started becoming more popular, showing up everywhere: streams, podcasts, and mainstream pop culture (Community, Stranger Things, D&D movie). In 2024 the game system was given a major overhaul, providing smaller changes and fixes to various parts of the game. This is now known as
Dungeons & Dragons 5.5 Edition (2024) https://groupfinder.eu/library/dungeons-dragons-55e-2024
Description In D&D 5E, the players create fantasy adventurers. From elven rogues to dragonborn paladins, while one player takes up the role of the Dungeon Master (DM). The DM is the one who builds and describes the world, acts and voices the non-player characters and controls the monsters and the world around them, acting as both the lead storyteller and generally the rules referee. The heart of 5E is “rulings over rules.” Instead of pages of complicated charts, the DM is encouraged to make quick calls and keep things moving, not letting rules stop the game in it's tracks. The game is built on the "Three Pillars": Combat, Exploration, and Social Interaction.  System Overview & Key Features
The Core d20 Mechanic The resolution system is unified and straightforward. To attempt almost most action where the outcome is not clearly obvious and there is a chance for failure, the player rolls a 20-sided die (d20), and adds the relevant modifier (either from their main stat or their skill bonus) and the DM's set Difficulty Check (DC) determines whether the attempt was a success or a failure.
Advantage and Disadvantage This is 5E’s defining innovation. Instead of making players calculate a dozen tiny modifiers (+2 for high ground, -1 for rain, +1 for a spell etc), the system or the DM simply declares whether the character has Advantage or Disadvantage on said roll. The player rolls two d20s and takes the higher result (Advantage) or the lower result (Disadvantage) and adds the necessary modifiers to the result.
Bounded Accuracy In older editions, numbers got out of hand fast. With 5E the numbers increase at a reasonable rate. Armor Class (AC) and attack bonuses rise slowly, so even high-level adventurers aren't always guaranteed to overcome a bunch of goblins. Most encounters can still be a challenge, especially if the amount of enemies is high.
The Proficiency Bonus A single, scaling number (starting at +2 and ending at +6) represents the character's training and experience. If a character is trained in using a weapon type, a skill (like Stealth), or a saving throw, they simply add their Proficiency Bonus to the d20 roll.
Backgrounds Roleplaying your character is starts already at the character creation. Picking a Background (like Acolyte or Criminal) gives you extra skills and story hooks: Personality Traits, Ideals, Bonds, Flaws, all concrete details to play with.
Resource Management (Rests) The game manages health and class abilities through a system of "Short Rests" (a quick one-hour break to spend Hit Dice and regain some abilities) and "Long Rests" (a full eight hours of downtime to completely heal and restore all spell slots and abilities).
Subclasses While players pick a primary Class (like Wizard) at level 1, they branch off into specialized Subclasses (like the School of Evocation or the School of Illusion) typically between levels 1 and 3, allowing for deep customization while presenting progression through incremental steps as the character grows and levels up

ABOUT: This adventure takes place in the Sansinukob Wildspace. This system has 13 planets, held together by a dead and forgotten god at the center. There are no suns here, only moons to illuminate every planet. Fifty years ago, a monstrous sea serpent named Bakunawa awakened from her slumber, consumed by endless hunger. She consumed all six moons above planet Tawalisi, one by one, until they were left in darkness for thirty years. Twenty years ago, the datu, Maximo Catubig, invented Bulan Lights, magical lamps that emit artificial moonlight, finally bringing light back to his people. They were a solace, soon placed in every home in Tawalisi. The people were finally able to thrive again, and Maximo helped pave the way to further technological advancement. However, decades of darkness had taken its toll; Some of the citizens of Tawalisi have become consumed by the same hunger that possessed Bakunawa, mutating their bodies and destroying their minds until all they can think about is eating the Bulan Lights. They will stop at nothing to consume all sources of moonlight, and will hurt and kill anything and anyone that gets in the way. Datu Maximo has called for help from all adventurers willing to listen. Assist him in installing these lights wherever he can, so he can save his people from being plunged into darkness again. The Warp (variety game)

I am the DM of a group and I am looking for some players to join in a series of short games (hopefully) between 1-4 sessions. These games are for me to experiment with some ideas I had for campaigns and the game's setting will be decided by the players vote (Examples of games settings possible currently: Demon Slayer, Western, Sci-fi and a fantasy game where everyone is a fairy) and players may suggest settings to be added to the vote pool. These sessions will be held in discord voice chats and played on roll20. There are some special rules for our sessions and for me as a DM. More rules can be added later but for now these are the things to remember. Campaign:. 1.  Homebrew races/classes/feats will be a part of the games depending on the setting. These will always be created by the DM discussing with the player and not from any other means. All base game material we are using is on https://dnd5e.wikidot.com/ and any unearthed arcana may be used as long as they are given permission to be used by the DM. 2. No evil characters. (there is a difference between an evil character and a jerk who is a good person) 3. Because we will be using homebrew in games I would highly recommend we make character sheets on the roll 20. If the sheet is not on roll 20 i cannot guarantee the character to work right or for me to be able to see them (which i do need to have access to them) as the DM 4. All settings unless otherwise stated will be starting at Level 3. 5. All settings unless otherwise stated will have a statline of 8 10 12 14 16 18 to be placed as any stat score 6. I would really like people to show up however you are not required to show up every week nor do you have to show up for every setting we do. 7. I have a 30 minute buffer in place if I do not have the required player count of 3 show up without warning 30 minutes after start time then the game is cancelled. Dm rules: 1.  I will tolerate no murder hoboing (we understand if your character has an edgier backstory but don't ruin the campaign for everyone else) 2. The DM has all the right to balance characters if the DM feels they are too strong/weak. (However they will discuss it with the owner each time to check what we can do so they don't feel like their concept is ruined) 3. The DM has all the right to balance any homebrew given to make it more fair for everyone. 4. I enjoy a bit of joking and chatting and can easily get side tracked, you have all right to grab attention back to the story. However we also have the right to try and nudge attention back to the story as well if you get sidetracked. 5. I will not give information about other players characters before the campaign starts if they want them secret and without express permission from the person whose character it is. The sessions will be run on Sundays at 1 pm pacific standard time, until the players must leave (normally at 5pm pst). More rules may be added later depending on what happens. I will once in a while ask opinions on rulings just to be sure something is fair however this will not always be the case. I as the DM am not perfect and prefer to work with my players and will be willing to explain their reasoning of my calls if asked. Pm me or comment if you are interested in joining.

Buulitz
Experience: Just shy of Three years, in two different groups! Availability: Every day, except Saturdays and Mondays from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM Game style: Looking for a somewhat casual game that has a good amount of roleplay with intermitted combat encounters, possibly with diplomacy options as well! Preferred roles: I haven't gotten a chance to play more Caster like characters, been playing marshals for some time, and would love to try out Articifer or Wizard for a campaign- having a character idea for both classes, but I'm fairly flexible with choice of role so I'll gladly pick up Cleric, Rogue or Paldian as well! Hi! Call me Buulitz, im currently looking for a weekly game of DnD 5e (2014 or 2024 version, latter I can learn up on quickly) that consists of an adult group who are equally Roleplay and Combat focused with a freshly started game! From modules to homebrew, im fine with almost all settings with the sole exception being Horror based stories. If possible, id love to join a somewhat classic adventuring story filled with action, adventure, mystery and overall fun- Or maybe a high seas/Airship based campaign but im pretty relaxed to most ideas and can adapt on the fly with character creation, story and roleplay. If you have a slot open, shoot me a reply at your leisure so we can chat! Otherwise, have a excellent day and take a easy.
