Odyssey of the Dragonlords
For thousands of years, the Titans were the lords of this land.
The Dragonlords drove back their armies; then fell to Sydon's hand.
Five Gods from the heavens came, as the Oracle had foreseen.
And a sacred oath was sealed with the blood of the Silver Queen.
Five hundred years have passed, but the peace has been in vain.
The time has come for war in Thylea once again.
Keywords: greek-adjacent mythology, narrative epic, roleplay heavy, heroes of legend
TW: Gender roles, colonialism, racism, slavery, child sacrifice, prostitution, cannibalism, choice given to be cruel.
About the GM
Hi! I go by Shumi, 19 (he/they), and I’ve DMed for almost an year now. My DMing style is closely tied to my varying degrees of perfectionism– I enjoy putting a lot of effort into the sessions I host, be it by the carefully picked background music, sewing player backstories into the world, searching for fitting token art, some custom maps created by me, and other effects supplied by VTTs such as roll20 or foundry. I’ve had good feedback from friends and players on the way I run things, and now I’m looking for a new group for an Odyssey of the Dragonlords campaign, by Drew Karpishyn, Jesse Sky, James Ohlen and Brent Knowles at Arcanum Worlds.
About the Campaign
As previously stated, this will be an OotD campaign. If you have played this previously or GM'd it yourself, please care to not spoil others on the events of the campaign. There will be a Player's Guide available to those who join the campaign discord server. If I can say anything to describe this campaign, it can only be this excerpt from the book itself:
"Odyssey of the Dragonlords combines an epic story with a structured, open world. As the players complete major milestones in the story, new parts of the world will become available for them to explore. [...] The goal of this adventure is to explore what it means to be a hero in a land where gods and Titans still walk the earth—where the forces of civilization are only just beginning to prevail against the monsters that haunt the seas and the forests. Your players will take on the role of mythic heroes charged with fulfilling a prophecy and confronting the Titans. Their decisions will shape the future and forever change the world of Thylea."
Timezone
UTC -3, Fridays 6:30pm bi-weekly. However, at the start of next year I'll be entering college, so if we still have sessions by then we'll have to reschedule. I intend for sessions to last 3-4 hours.
Setup
Semi-Theather of the Mind. Discord for voice calls, Foundry for dice rolls. We'll be using the 2014 rules whenever possible.
Who is this campaign intended for?
* People who are into heavy RP and engaging characters – you don’t have to be neither broadway actor nor voice actor (though both are certainly welcome), as long as you’re willing and trying, you’re welcome!
* Storytellers – this is intended to be a campaign that tells a story, where characters change or grow, face hardships, bond with one another, explore and reach goals together. If you’re aiming for min-maxing, efficiency and far more combat than RP, this isn’t the right fit. I value people who think from their character’s perspective.
* Somewhat experienced players or former DMs – I have nothing but respect for new players, but for this campaign, I’d rather be settling with someone who is already familiar with RPGs and roleplaying. It streamlines a lot of things, and I’d rather not have someone discover after one session that this RPG thing isn’t for them after all. I'm willing to accept those new to 5e if you already have some experience with prior TTRPGs (which would be pretty funny, since 5e is the starting point for many in the RPG scene).
* The open minded – bigotry won’t be tolerated. Adam Bates once said "You can say 'all are welcome' but if wolves and sheep are both welcome then you're only going to get wolves". Except for those who are bigoted against others, people from all backgrounds are welcome to join. Extra cookies for former theatre kids, note-takers and artists, you guys make sick party members!
* Ages 18+ and those comfortable with mature topics – No grievances towards those younger, but I won't be accepting applicants under 18. Lots and lots of heavy topics– death, violence and similarly dark themes are going to be mentioned or involved. In general, I’m not against shying away from the darker parts of a world.
