Smoke and Specters
Hi guys! I'm looking to run a campaign that has the mechanics of DND 5E, but more so reflavored. Down below i'll post a little blurb on the campaign's overview that Ive written. Currently im looking for 3-4 more players(preferably 21 and over), and sessions will be starting at 630 or so CST, and they will run every other week! Dates are pending at the moment, so I can take into account what would fit best for the group at large. Things that I will be using are Roll20 and DND&Beyond, and I can't wait to create this amazing story with y'all.
Campaign Overview:
The year is high in the Golden Era, and the city of Gilded Hollow gleams like a jewel in the dusk. Streetlamps flicker to life as day drapes itself into night; enchanted bulbs drift lazily through the sky on invisible currents, casting warm halos over cobblestone streets. Music—for some, jazz; for others, something older—thrums in the air like a heartbeat. Arcane-infused cocktails glow in crystal glasses, advertisements wink and whisper as you pass— promising evenings of wonder, indulgence, and escape.
But beneath the lacquered floorboards of the age of indulgence, something rotten comes to light. Bright facades peel back to reveal ugly truths. Old hungers—long thought buried—gnaw at the foundations of the city. Spells meant to amuse begin to misfire. Shadows move without their owners. The dead, it seems, have grown restless in their graves.
The illusion cracks the night that Miss Lila Vayne, a beloved flapper and rising star, vanishes mid-performance at The Velvet Veil—a notorious speakeasy famed for its enchanted shows and its… less reputable clientele.
In the wake of her disappearance, rumors ignite like matchheads: ghosts dancing across mirror-glass, phantom jazz bands playing songs no living musician remembers, and whispers of an ancient pact woven into the founding of Gilded Hollow itself.
Something old has awakened, and something powerful wants it kept quiet.
And this is where you—adventurer, detective, mercenary, scholar, or unlucky bystander—enter the story. Hired, pressured, or lured by forces unknown, you arrive in the city to investigate Miss Vayne’s disappearance. Instead, you uncover a world behind the world: a decaying undercity of forgotten spirits, cursed magic, and power-hungry elites desperate to let sleeping ghosts lie.
But ghosts do not lie still forever.
And something in Gilded Hollow is beginning to wake.
