The Restless Bones of the Wode Marches

Goldamere is simple, it's easy to understand; it's farms, it's wheat, it's barley. It's a one-night stop at an inn, on a long, slow, ponderous, winding journey through interminable fields of crops. Nothing lurks under the surface of this idyllic town. It's just fields and windmills and ruined ancient shrines.  Oh, and the dead have started coming back to life.  Maybe there's more to Goldamere than meets the eye. Why are the dead of this sleepy farming town coming back to life and wandering off? Why did skeletons in ancient military regalia attack and drag off the town priest, Father Hadigal? Why don't the fields here ever need fertilising? What secrets do these ancient shrines hold? WHERE has Filcher, the town pseudo-dragon got to?  The people of Goldamere are farmers. They know wheat and barley, and making bread and beer, not green-eyed skeletons and dead people coming back to life. They're scared and bewildered, and what they really need is some help. If there ever were a time for someone to step up and make something of themselves... well, this would be it. Welcome to the Wode Marches! It's a swampy, thickly forest region, filled with small fiefdoms, ruinous keeps, ancient shrines and down-trodden, but welcoming folk that could really use a break. The plan for this campaign is to do an adventure in the sleepy farming town of Goldamere, suddenly beset by a supernatural undead menace, to get everyone used to the rules and each other, and get a few levels under our belts. Then we'll use the Wode Marches region as a semi-sandbox style game, where the characters can explore and push back against the bad guys who are pursuing their own agendas. When: Weekly on Wednesdays, 7.30pm-10.30pm GMT, starting 8th April with Session Zero.  Where: Discord and Owlbear Rodeo. Voice required, camera optional. Lines & Veils for safety tools.  Who: Any 3-5 players who are over 21. New players, old players, any sort of identity, including LGBTQ+... all are welcome. It would be great to have a mix of folks, but I'll fill slots first come, first served.  System: Nimble - A fast, tactical hack of 5e. Check out the Log in to view, for a vibe check. Just the core rules at first - no homebrew/add-ons, yet.  Tone: Dramatic, heroic, with a splash of humour or darkness. Mostly Skyrim, with moments that are Fable. High fantasy, magical medieval world, with no artificers/magic-as-technology. How: Please send me a message with: - Your name/what you want to be called, and your pronouns, how old you are. - How often you could make the session (every week, every 2 weeks etc). - Your TTRPG experience thus far, or if you're new, what made you want to start playing. From there we'll probably have a bit of chat, and I'll slot people into a list of players. If I can get a core of 3-4 folks together every week, I don't mind having one or two other players that only show up every other week, or once a month or whatever, so don't be discouraged if you can't make every week. About Me: Hey, I'm Sam (he/him, they/them). I've been playing D&D and other TTRPGs a long time, and I've got lots of player and GM experience. I like to weave roleplaying into all of the play, and I like fast-to-run games with dynamic combat. I'm aiming about 50/50 roleplaying to combat. I love building settings, but especially with lots of player buy in - I want to incorporate ideas that arise naturally from play or your backstories into the world, and really make it out own. I like to ask players to contribute to the world during play, too. Any questions or comments, just send me a message, and I'll do my best to answer.

Hey, I'm Sam. I've been playing TTRPGs for about 25 years, including a variety of games, but especially D&D. I've got lots of experience as a GM and as a player. I like immersive worlds, sharing the world building and dynamic combat.
