The oneshot will be taking place on March 15, 2026 at 5PM CST
For the first time in a long time, something has changed in the stagnant city of Lakusted.
Once a gated and isolated lakeside community, the city walls have finally opened to visitors once more. With charming locals, plentiful fish harvests, and an attentive noble family to oversee it all, it is little wonder why trade has been booming in the markets. Incentivized by new riches, however, crime has grown too, and along with it the need for guards and hired hands to keep the peace, their presence a reassurance for both locals and visiting merchants alike.
It is required for suspicious behavior to be reported and investigated, though strangely enough, outsiders have not been the ones targeted by most cases. Locals have begun to report other locals to authority– colleagues, neighbors, or even loved ones– concerned about sudden changes in their behavior.
Something must be influencing them but investigations have stalled due to law enforcement having their hands full. As a hired hand from outside, it is your job to figure out what is happening and, hopefully, to put a stop to it.

Hello all!
I go by DJ (she/they). I’ve been playing DND for about 3 years now and am relatively new to the DM scene. This will be my second time running this self-written oneshot (although it will be my first time doing so online) and I’m looking for a party of about 5-6 players to play for free. The oneshot will be run on Discord using voice call.
As you can probably surmise from the content warnings, the session will involve horror elements and is mystery themed. Another thing to note is that it will largely be roleplay and investigation heavy with little to no combat involved, although player choices (including the order in which you choose to do things) having a large impact on certain outcomes.
I’m looking to organize a fun game with players who are invested in participating, so if this sounds like your jam, I’d love for you to sign up! To express your interest, please either message me here or DM me with your experience in DND (especially 2024 5e) and what you’d like to do as a player. Thanks!
