DnD 3.5e Beginner Friendly Campaign

Hello, I'm Marc. I have several years of experience GM'ing Call of Cthulhu and similar games, but recently been diving into dnd 3.5. I've run one 3.5e campaign before, it lasted six months but I ended up cancelling it because of a revolving door of tardy/flaky players. Now I'm giving it another go, and starting a whole new campaign. I still feel pretty new to DnD generally, and so I will be giving preference to new players as well. I have three players from my previous campaign (the non-flaky ones) already signed up for this game, so I'm looking for 1-3 more to join. Character creation will happen in a one-on-one discord call with me. Characters made on your own won't be allowed. Sorry! The game is on Discord (OwlbearRodeo for VTT), and we play every Saturday, at 9 PM Central European Time (UTC+1). That should be 3 PM EST, or noon PST. We are starting at level 1. My DM'ing style is fairly relaxed, and I hate min-maxing. It's especially bad in a 3.5 game, so it will not be tolerated. I think an imperfectly balanced sheet that is true to its character is far more fun. I do also like some of the crunchier mechanics of 3.5, so we'll be tracking carrying capacity and individual XP and such things. The setting is my own homebrew world. Its fairly generic, mostly-low magic fantasy, but I do love adding horror elements here and there. I'm hoping to run a semi-optional, single-session prologue for the campaign either on August 1st or 8th, and the campaign proper will start on August 15th. All players must be available August 15th.
