Daggerheart Witherwild Campaign

DH
Daggerheart
New York

Hi! My name is Kenny and I'm looking for 2 more players in New York City to commit to a medium term (1ish year) Daggerheart campaign set in the Witherwild campaign frame (for fun, not to be recorded). It will be a learning experience for myself, as I've not played Daggerheart yet, so no experience required - we're all gonna learn! Loosely following my style of GMing, I'm looking for players who are seeking a serious toned table that focuses on dramatic narratives, and is hungry for a table that encourages immersion! LGBTQAI+, BIPOC, and/or femme players highly welcome! The Game Master My name is Kenny Mai, and I am a professional game master and the creator of Fables of Frost & Fur, an award-winning actual play podcast. Feel free to check here for a quick vibe check: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNOyLzs259rqSpls2Ox3qCfz4aN0kMfw2 . In the TTRPG community, I am known for pushing TTRPGs as a storytelling format, blending my experience in theater and writing to create immersive experiences at the table. In real life, I'm just a Viet-American crazy cat man who likes horror movies with his wife. The Pitch I'm looking for 2 players who are willing to join this table in learning Daggerheart, a narrative-focused TTRPG. In that spirit, the campaign will not only be a homebrewed, but bespoke to the PCs that you and your fellow players create. Here is a copy and pasted pitch of the world you'd be inhabiting, from the core rulebook itself: Fanewick was once a place of great abundance and peace— dangerous to those unfamiliar with the land, but a cornucopia to those who respected its ways. When Haven invaded the wilds and forced the land into eternal spring, a dangerous bloom known as the Witherwild took hold and now threatens the lives of all who live there. In a Witherwild campaign, you’ll play unlikely heroes from humble beginnings who are reckoning with their newfound duty to save Fanewick’s people from dangerous corruption. Tone & Feel The table is hoping to explore the mechanics unique to Daggerheart and push how they influence storytelling. To that end, this table will be serious about immersion and roleplaying. Not that there won't be laughs! Fun, lighthearted moments will be mirrored by players and their PCs, but feel earned by the story being told. Themes The premise of the Witherwild revolves around two primary cultures, clashing against the backdrop of immeasurable tragedy. We will touch on themes of colonization, survival, and the lengths one goes to save their loved ones. But it won't be a grimdark world! There will be plenty of room for hope, forgiveness, and heroism. Logistics We are aiming for: Weekly sessions 2.5-3 hour target session lengths Friday evening - Sunday evening flexibility Location: an apartment building in Long Island City (Court Square subway stops). We have a lovely bookable conference room in our amenities floor that has a nice, big table and a big TV that I'm 73% confident I can get to work. While we are not in-session, we will communicate primarily over Discord. Safety & Expectations Safety and planning tools for the campaign include but are not limited to: Lines and Veils X-cards Stars and Wishes Players will be expected to respect each other and the GM. This includes, but is not limited to: being kind, observing the right pronouns, not talking over people, and assuming good intentions. Please do not be intimated by any questions! I am just genuinely curious about the folks who are interested! I will reach out over Discord, then schedule a video call for initial vibe checks, then schedule meeting in a public place for in-person vibe checks. Thanks for making it to the end of this lengthy post! Looking forward to hearing from you all!
