Description
Hey everyone, due to some unexpected circumstances, I'm looking for 2 more players to join a custom, rules-lite, and extremely roleplay heavy system I’ve been working on for a while now. This is not a “test-it-out” campaign as it is closer to a full-length (~15-20 sessions campaign) game. We usually play on Sundays every week starting around 10.00 PST. We play entirely on Discord.
The system is extremely light in terms of combat. The rules on combat, and perhaps in general, are only there to give certain decisions or actions some weight or a clear result.
The game is set in an alternate history Y2K with heavy biopunk and cyberpunk themes clashed with the paranormal. To be more specific, the game is set in an almost completely industrialized Nunavut. “Where the skyline scrapes the stars while soviet era block buildings are left to crumble into the ground.”
This is a relatively darker and broodier campaign sprinkled sparsely with dry humor. Some hard topics such as bigotry, terminal diseases, body horror, and harm to children will be discussed throughout the campaign, though I will handle it with utmost care.
This is also a 18+ game, some sexual topics might be mentioned but there will be a hard line against directing outright action from GM to players, players to other players, or players to NPC. There may be some raunchy joke here and there, but generally we will not be focusing on the topics of sex or anything remotely sexual.
In more details about the setting, Nunavut has turned into clusters of sprawling oil cities. People have discovered magic and technology of the internet, weaving them both into an extremely robust tech-boom period. At the same time, the nuclear-scare got out of hand due to several nukes being dropped throughout major cities in the world during the early cold-war (called the 3rd World War in this setting) so fossil fuel usage runs rampant.
The city you are in, Liebknecht, named after an old German revolutionary, is home to several corporation indoor "nest" which is about 300-400 stories tall and 10-20 kilometers diameter structure. Outside of the nests lies the old ruins and coal mines from soviet era which are home to people who can't afford to live within, or at any better places. There's also the city itself which is a relatively "normal" city built entirely on a cement-and-steel platform over the ice. The city borders the Hudson Bay to the east, which in this setting is rich with oil and natural gas.
The premise of the game can be summarized as “You lost memories of the past 1-3 months and now you need to face the past, when you weren’t in control of your character. Your goal is to get back to where you need to be and reconcile with whatever happened the last few months.”
The game has already started and we just finished session 1, nothing much has happened outside of generally introducing the character to the premise. If you were to join, your character will be introduced relatively smoothly though with some prior mini-story leading up to how they were found by the rest of the crew.
Other things I might not have mentioned:
1. I have a hard rule against usage of generative AI in any steps of the game, including character creation. Character art is not required in the slightest, and having none is far more preferable than using Gen AI to make one.
2. Expect this to be a moderate investment of your time. Please mull it over a bit before asking to join since leaving mid-game will be quite hectic.
3. We are only using voice chat, no need for camera, but a microphone is a must.
4. You will need to be free for a bit this week leading up to the next scheduled session time (May 31st) for character creation purposes.
